The January Fundraising email!

Hello from 123!

Even though we're only a month into 2008, it looks like it's going to be a good year for the 123 Community Space. Since you heard from us last, more and more amazing things have been going on, but there's still plenty of room to grow. Some of our newer projects and events include:
-The Kalabash Food Co-op
-ISIS (supporting survivors of sexual assault), meets once a week
-New Leafs for old causes, a fundraising movie event hosted by Ephraim Benton, an actor from Bed-Stuy
-The opening of the In Our Hearts Infoshop and Lending Library
-A musical event with Evan Greer, of Riot Folk fame
-and more!

In order to continue this progress, though, we need the continued support of our friends and comrades. One of the best ways that you can do this is to become
a member of 123, by contributing $25/month! It’s pretty inexpensive, goes a long way towards creating a space for community and resistance, and we make sure every penny goes a long way.

Here’s some of the other things that you would be
supporting:

-The Freegan Bike Workshop (Where anyone can build a
bike or repair their own for free) meets on Wednesdays
and Saturdays.
-Misled Youth Network (Youth empowerment through
visual arts) hosts silkscreening and photography
workshops
-In Our Hearts Network (Anarchist network whose
projects include an active book and zine distribution
and really really free markets) hosts a lending
library and monthly potlucks
-NYC Anarchist Black Cross (Political Prisoner support
collective) has bi-weekly Political Prisoner Letter
Writing Dinners on Tuesday nights
-The Afterschool Program

We also offer the space for benefits and other events.
This past month we hosted meetings for groups such as APOC(anarchist people of color) and are making plans to start building a garden in the back!

We have open meetings on Sundays at 5 pm, and everyone is welcome to come by and find out what’s going on!

Thank you for your support,
