Meeting Notes Sunday Sept. 7th, 2008

In attendance: Francesca, Sarah, Quinn, Danielle, Dave, Andrew, Michael, Adam, Wendy, William, SarahFNB, Rob, Morgan, and three more FNB peops. (sorry I didn't catch your names. You folks rock out hardcore though :)

Reportbacks:

Bikeshop is going well, always looking for more volunteers. Christian has returned. This past Saturday was a rousing success; they used a generator! Hurricanes and electric bills be damned! :) A tricycle was stolen from the bikeshop. If anyone has any info on this please see Quinn as they really like that
tricycle :(

Black history field trips are going well. The most recent trip was to Harlem, home of the Black American Renaissance. *have not been able to reach neighborhood volunteer, want to make sure he is OK*

FNB is rockin out! this past Saturday was hampered by the weather and our not having electricity, but on Sunday they served some really good raw food! Back on next Saturday!

The orientation for Karate Class happened in spite of the hurricane and the first class will begin Monday Sept. 8th

The After School Program is on hiatus until those involved work out organizational/structural details for the new school year. There will be a meeting to discuss these issues on Friday Sept 12th 6pm @ 123

Events:

FNB wants to organize a fundraiser for 123 with performances by artists and musicians with a date of Friday Oct., 3rd. They would like to find local talent and expressed that they would flyer in the neighborhood. Concerns were raised about alienating the neighborhood. FNB agrees that street outreach is necessary. We have consensus on the event with 4 stand asides as they were late, but there are concerns about having alcohol at the event. There are concerns about alcohol conflicting with ideals of 123. This also raises issues of people outside, which can lead to police issues, being respectful of neighbors, and underage drinking. There is also the issue of having to limit how many people would be able to attend, regarding issues of security and the aforementioned respect issues. FNB has already suggested having the same bartender, stamping hands, and designating security peops. They will have a proposal dealing with alcohol concerns ready to present for next Sunday's meeting.

The "New Orleans film event" organized by the Freegans will not be happening due to a schedule conflict with the people who wanted to show/facilitate the film, though Adam will try and get a copy of the tape.

Housekeeping:

Electricity has been shut off since Friday. Francesca is on top of the issue and should have it resolved by Monday Sept. 8th at the earliest, Thursday Sept, 11th at the latest. We now have to start paying the electric bill as it had been free in the past. The electric bill will be in Francesca's name so we need to make sure this is payed in a timely manner as it would, among other things, affect her credit. *If not back on by tomorrow, how will this affect the Spanish Class and the Karate Class? Can we use the generator for these programs? Francesca will get with Margie about Spanish Class.

Volunteer training did not happen this Sunday. Will happen next Sunday Sept, 14th @ 4pm. I will give but need someone to help. Need to have updated volunteer training packet as well.

Josh Macphee has been asked by a company to make stickers for whatever he wants; he wants to make stickers for 123. There was consensus on having 123 stickers made with 3 stand asides regarding environmental concerns about what the stickers will be made from. Sarah will email/post a link to the sticker company's website.

Dave and Andrew will install slide locks on our inside door by Sunday Sept, 21, which is our workday for September.

William has a gate for our backyard that he would like to donate. Next Sunday, Sept 14th, he will assess the situation, the following Sunday (our workday) he will help install. However, we'll need gate hinges.

Two pieces of our stage are in Quinn's basement; just let him know if we need them. The other two pieces were used by Glass accidentally. She will replace with material or cash; we have chosen cash.

Our toilet is still busted, though Dave is buying a kit to fix, and Quinn was going to try and fix it tonight Sept, 7th.

Quinn's wall mirrors still need to go up. They need frames built for them. Francesca and Michael offered to help him with this, possibly tomorrow, Monday Sept 8th.

Alrighty, that's it i think. Let us know if I missed anything.

mAd lovE,
