Notes for the 123 Community Space Meeting for November 9, 2008
Present: Danielle, Sarah(fnb), quinn, darcie, arthemio, laura, Michael, ryan, Michael, pete, dave, Stephanie
Reportbacks:
Food not bombs-Went okay, but there were problems with the grill
Copwatch-had 6 people, and monitored 1 arrest; needs more volunteers
Afterschool program-Lots of kids, people are getting interested, looking for more volunteers
Bike shop-is going well, can they use fractured atlas to get a grant? Need more volunteers
Kalabash-In the planning stage, looking for volunteers who want to be involved, looking to have a parkslope food co-op buy back of food, now members need to pay a $50 refundable deposit, they need a minimum of 20 people to place an order, a box of food is 20-30 dollars,
Proposal? Can the freegans use fractured atlas to get a grant?
Michael-seems like there’s a lot of extra work that goes into it
Quinn-we have to report on earned income, i.e. if we get a check, we have to send it through them if the people want a tax write off on it
Needs: we need to build a lockbox to put receipts in for income
-we need to a treasurer to do the data entry of those receipts(dave volunteered)
-the freegans need to write a letter to fractured atlas
Consensus reached on freegans using fractured atlas to solicit donations
Friendsgiving-Is now cancelled because of the electricity problems
Michael-Paperwork is ready for electricity; will fax it in tomorrow.
Con ed will take a week, maybe two to turn it on
Proposal for fundraiser-Paper tiger TV wants to do an event on a Thursday night in early December, wanting to show a film, radical media
Michael is willing to help
They would be looking for a 50/50 split on the door
Dave-Proposal for music event, on the first Friday of December-consensus reached to start organizing for it
Danielle-proposal for a movie night for Thursday, nov 20th. Consensus reached for event, consensus not reached for use of alcohol(bring up at next meeting)
Update on electricity woes-123 Community space now has a “board of directors”. As of right now, though, Michael is our “landlord” and 123 is the tenant. We will renew the lease on nov 30, and at that point the person on the lease can change, possibly to “123 community space”
Swapmeet-This coming Sunday, 1-4-Needs volunteers-who’s available
RE: $627 gap in our rent
In Our Hearts supposedly made $4000 at the Halloween benefit, but Thadeaus said they only made 1000. Dispute about which is accurate.
Re: the 123 community space benefit at john bosch house-people feel money from that should go directly to 123, as it was billed as a benefit for the 123 community space
Quinn still needs $227 more to be paid back. Looking to get this money from In Our Hearts
Electricity-Apparently neighbors don’t like us-Have to find alternate way to steal electricity.
