proposals from 11/4/07

The Rent and the Debt to In Our Hearts:

1. should we cover everything as individual groups or work to unite our efforts and make money together?

Proposed Guidelines

1. everyone has to park their bikes outside or bring them in the back
2. if there's mail at the space it should be put in the black box on the shelf above the computer
3. everyone involved with the space is responsible for the trash and they need to take them out on the trash days listed in the kitchen
4. regularly scheduled events be considered "prioritized" and if you're there for another reason
you should check with the people running the event first and generally be mindful of them.
5. if someone is setting up an event they should put everything back and clean up
6. kids should be supervised or not allowed in. if kids are on the computer it's ok to not be watching them but you will be considered responsible for them. especially if they're around power tools.
7. if someone is abusive or inappropriate the person/volunteer there needs to confront the person(s)
or kid(s)
8. if one person is alone with a child or children they're at a large risk for a lawsuit because it's your word against theres, so people should be conscious of this. more than one adult with a child or children is ok.

Other Proposals

1. each week we take a few minutes at the meeting to talk about the dynamics of us with the space
2. we should decide whether or not we want to have parties here at all
3. the space be alcohol free
4. there should be specific "outreach days" to connect with the community
5. there should be only 2 meetings a month that are for covering the most important things, the other 2 should be expected to be more casual.
6. should there be a "check-in/feedback" group responsible for addressing dynamics?
7. "interpersonal mechanism" for people feeling alienated so someone can just say "i'm feeling alienated" and the meeting would immediately focus on that - like a "safe-word"

If there are any objections to these or if I missed something, this is the place to comment. Especially if you can't make every meeting.
