A brief explanation of what goes on at the space was given.

John proposes a guideline for limiting use of the computer to only people over 16, in response to disrespectful behavior on the part of young people who wanted to use the computer
Issues brought up:
-Counter suggestion that it be limited to HW use onlyl
-The need for a system to be created for kids to use the computer
-The need for mutual respect between young people and others
-Possible to remove computer entirely for a month?
-Limiting access to certain sites
-The issue should be about respect, not just control
-There should be something done to specifically address bad behavior
-We should be a letter explaining how we feel on the screen.
Official proposal: That the internet only be used for the lending library database for one month, and that the wireless adaptor be disconnected and hidden, thus denying internet access to anyone regardless of age, and to have a sign on the monitor explaining all this
-Consensus reached on this proposal-all in favor
--------------
Giovanni gave an invitation to a protest on Wednesday the 19th, protesting the removal of tariffs on US corn in Mexico. From 10-12 in front of the Mexican consulate

Proposal from John for the door: That it be reinforced across the entire thing with steel plating. This was in response to one of the young people breaking a pane of glass in it.

-Discussion happened around different kinds of doors we could have in place, and not wanting the appearance of the door to suffer.

-New proposal: John will look for a clear plexiglass door, and when he finds one, he will bring the idea up again at the meetings

Sandra brought up the issue of where the signs that she made were, that stated there were no bikes allowed in the upper part of the space.
-Reponse: No one knows where they went, but John was offended at the fact that they had a picture of a bike with a “no smoking” type line over them.

Event proposal(brought up by Dave): That on Friday, February 15 from 12-2, the group Chair advocates be allowed to have a benefit luncheon in the space, for a small donation to the space($25)
-Concerns: that the space is not wheelchair accessible.
-Requests: that someone from Chair advocates come to see what would need to be done, and Christian offered to help build ramps.

-Dave will tell Chair Advocates all this and get back to the group

Jacob brought up the issue of rent:

-We need to get it a week in advance, at least, due to the holidays.
-Xochitl brought up that if everyone just got 2 people they know to donate, it would be really helpful.
-Sandra suggested putting a post on craigslist asking for money
-Dave will write a x-mas themed email call for money.

End of meeting.
